When I first found out about my nephew’s heroin addiction, I didn’t know what to think. I didn’t know that much about the drug, so I gave him the only advice I could. I told him to go to Teen Challenge because it was the only help I knew about for addiction.
He didn’t listen right away, but after too many run ins with the law and nearly killing a family in a head on crash, he made the decision to go. He did great and was clean for about 5 years when for whatever reason, he went back to some old friends…..and it started again. This time the law caught up with him and he is currently serving 20 years in prison, while his teenage boys are growing up without him.
It is a heavy weight for his mom, and for our whole family.
